Why should I take the ACT?

  • The ACT is a computer-based test. This provides test takers:
    • Scores within 48 hours*
    • No fewer than 24 testing opportunities per year
    • Ability to type answers on writing test
  • The ACT is the only admissions exam which includes a science section - an advantage for students studying in STEM fields
  • ACT scores can be used for many scholarship applications

What is the format of the ACT?

The ACT is a computer-based test (CBT).

The ACT is comprised of multiple choice questions in English, math, reading, and science, and an optional writing test.

  • ACT English Test (75 items, 45 minutes)
  • ACT Mathematics Test (60 items, 60 minutes)
  • ACT Reading Test (40 items, 35 minutes)
  • ACT Science Test (40 items, 35 minutes)
  • ACT Writing Test (Optional) (1 prompt, 40 minutes)

Registering for the ACT is on online process that takes approximately 30 minutes and requires a credit card or voucher; a valid email address; and a list of grades and courses you have taken.

    • Choose a test session
    • Select a test center
